Run is Good. OBJ is PIA. Cleveland Browns Analysis Corrections and Stuff

The 2020 Browns are going to run the ball a LOT, and Ellis L Williams wrote an outstanding article on why that's smart for any first year Head Coach, and why (in his opinion) Chubb and Hunt should split the carries.

Before I correct Ellis, I need to add that any time a new offensive system is introduced, the running game is the easy part.  Running backs rely on instincts, and offensive linemen like to attack.

A new passing game takes longer.

Now the corrections: Kareem Hunt will share the field with Nick Chubb a lot on neutral downs, and might replace him on 3rd and longs.

All of this is because he is an accomplished receiver.  The notion of handing off to Hunt as often as to Chubb is impractical.

While Nick Chubb was massively unerrated as a receiver, Kareem Hunt is ahead of him as a slot and wide receiver, and the two will be used differently.

Chubb might average 20 carries, while Hunt gets 10.  Their targets in the passing game will probably be 2:1 in Hunt's favor.

Ellis is way ahead of the "2/3 Tight End cuz dass da Stefannnskeee offerenz" crowd, but Chubb and Hunt splitting carries is impractical.

Austin Hooper and Comrade Mayfield becoming roommates is great to hear.  Mayfield already has chemistry with David Njoku, Jarvis Landry, Kareem Hunt, and...

...Well Odell and Comrade Baker should have chemistry in this new system;

...ok in the Dorsey Kitchens 2019 system, Dorsey prize OBJ was the designated deep threat and prime target, which was assenine (see 50+previous posts).

Still, even as Mayfield kept forcing balls to an impaired player who couldn't separate, these 2 had to have established some chemistry.

By the way, OBJ wanting more targets really pisses everybody with a brain off, and I herebye retract my assertion that he is intelligent and not selfish.

I renew my hope that this idiotic mistake by John Dorsey can be offset by some other GM dumb enough to cough up real value for him in a trade.

OBJ is a cut above Antonio Brown emotionally and mentally, but has still confirmed that he is selfish.

His LSU teammate/bro Jarvis Landry has to be irked by his "me me me" public demands for even more targets from Baker Mayfield in a Stefanski offense (OBJ was about the 5th most targeted receiver in the NFL in 2019!!!)

Jarvis Landry just outclasses Beckham.  He's the "big brother" in this relationship.  He is smarter.  He works harder.  And OBJ obviously doesn't listen to him.

But I digress:

Austin Hooper is a "go-to" guy, which Comrade Mayfield will be allowed to throw to in Stefanski's offense.

He will rarely be a primary target outside the red zone, but will be the 3rd or even 2nd option on over half the pass plays:

Quarterbacks under pressure don't always have time to "check down" as they run for their lives, and often can't see the whole field.

Mayfield will look for Hooper in every emergency, and you know what?

He can force the ball to him!  He's 6'5" and had one of the highest catch-rates in the NFL per PFF!

Matt Ryan had awesome WRs to throw to; Hooper only caught fire because Julio Jones was hurt...nevermind...

Austin Hooper is the real top Tight End, Kareem Hunt the real top slot receiver, and Njoku and/or OBJ (and/or Hunt, actually) could still be traded to teams that don't agree with the Cleveland punditry about their worthlessness.

The Overthecap analysis of Myles Garett's extention made it sound dumb for the team...

Well it was, actually, based on how the guaranteed monies were distributed.  I was wrong when I guessed about this.

Overthecap's analyisis was excellent.  My only counterpoint is that for this year and next, he's a bargain, so the Browns can afford to keep their best young players--and cap infation will render Garrett cheaper, and...

Why are they sweating a year-long suspension?  That's just IGNORANT.

Nevermind okbye
