Cleveland Browns a Great Team for Cousins.

Alex Smith has been traded to the Washington Redskins for chump-change.  As in the Garopollo trade, the Browns were almost certainly not even allowed to make a bid, in this case, the Chiefs took the other offer.

But I'm hearing a whole lot of ignorant insanity about this, and can't avoid repeating myself for at least the 50th time here:

Smith and Cousins naturally say they'd prefer to end up with a team WITH THE CHANCE TO win, and everybody assumes they're excluding the Browns.

Ok 1-31, 0-16.  A kindergartener can "figure this out" as well as these pundits have.

But it's NOT.  THAT.  SIMPLE.

Or maybe it is:

"A team with a chance to win" means a team with a chance to win.  It does not mean "an established contender."  It means a well-coached team with T A L E N T.

In 2017, Josh Gordon did his job, but can't throw passes to himself.  I know Corey Coleman blew that critical reception, but that shouldn't mask the fact that he was usually open, but was either overlooked, or thrown uncatchable passes.

These quarterbacks can review game tapes and see these things.  They know what they would have done if they'd been in Kizer's place.  They KNOW that these two weapons are here, even if most pundits don't.

They saw the rookie Njoku.  They saw Duke Johnson.  They know when Kizer blew a read or failed to pull the trigger on-time, and know the difference between a three and six-second sack, and know how well this offensive line passblocks in the real world.

They know Todd Haley's historical success, and that goes for Gregg Williams too.

They know Dorsey is in charge now, and they know his record, as well.

They know that the Browns are ready to bring in some high-profile free agents, as well as their bevy of high draft picks.

These pundits ignore ALL of this, because they are Memorex Morons.  They think 1-32 is all there is to it; "The Browns will be the Browns" regardless of their roster, coaches, and GM!?!

As even Mary Kay Cabbot is just starting to realize, one quarterback can turn a loser into a winner.  Jimmy Garopollo went to the Niners and was undefeated; instant turnaround!

Well, the 49ers, like the Browns, had a lot of young but talented players, still finding their way in the NFL.  Garopollo was clearly more advanced than even I thought he was, because he turned that team around from the first snap.

This will happen here with the more talented Browns roster for even a Tyrod Taylor, or conceivably an A J McCarron, if not a Kirk Cousins.

In re that, I have to revise my salary estimates in view of Alex Smith's astronomical (and stupid) contract.  It might actually be WORTH paying Kirk Cousins 30 mil in the current market, thanks to the geniuses in DC.

I'm starting to warm up to Tyrod Taylor now.  He hasn't had serious weapons at WR.  He's maxed McCoy out; made the most of what he's had.  He HAS a strong arm, but has been criticized for not using it.

But then, he hasn't had a Coleman, Gordon, or Njoku either.

Case Keenum would be my own first choice, even over Cousins, but I doubt that the Vikings will let him go.

Back to Alex Smith:  The contract extention the Redskins offered is irrelevant, ok?  The Browns offered the Chiefs the best deal, and the Chiefs could have taken it.  And Fuller aint chopped liver.

Evidently, the Chiefs showed unusual class and loyalty here, and accepted a lower offer from a team that guaranteed him a rediculous contract.

But Mary Kay:  Alex Smith's AGENT didn't make this trade.  The Chiefs did.  Please stop saying that the extension offer did the Chiefs any favors at all.

Joe Thomas wants Cousins.  Chad Johnson predicts it, pointing out what I just did: The Browns have guys he can throw the ball to.  A former wide receiver knows these things.

They've also got a better defense than the Redskins had.  (That matters, ya know!)

I'm with Big Joe.

As every body ass umed that Smith's wanting to win meant that the Browns were disqualified, Olympic Conclusion-leaper Pat McManoman landed on the same conclusion for Cousins.

Between Pat and Chad Johnson, I think Ocho knows better.

Provided Cousins looks over this roster, these coaches, and this GM, he will absolutely consider signing with the Browns.

He might even prefer this team, because no where else in the NFL could he engineer a bigger one-year turnaround.

YOU LIKE THAT!?😲
