OBJ, Mayfield, Williams Unchained; Kitchens the Little Dutch Boy: Funny Cubed.

The guys on NFL Radio are talking about OBJ's optimistic statements a lot, and are of course being predictable.

"I like Baker Mayfield, but it's a little early to--"

"Let's make the playoffs before we--" blahblahblah -yawn-.

OBJ is determined to help the Browns become the new Patriots, by the way.  (As english is my first language, I'm here to translate for 95% of you people again).

So the snickers, snorts and eyerolls are appropriate if you think this goal is unachievable, but not if you managed to think OBJ was comparing the two organizations right now, or guaranteeing anything.

And it is a lofty goal.

But OBJ's comparison of Mayfield to Favre isn't as laughable as the rest of you think it is.

OBJ is a wide receiver.  As you'll recall, he was shocked by his having been traded to the Browns, but now is happier than he's ever been.

Well, he looked at the FILMS from 2018, Sherlock!  He saw perfect touch and deadly accuracy to every part of the field.  He compared Baker to Eli.

Odell said Mayfield IS "Favre" right now.

Well, I think OBJ just threw a name out there.  Brett Favre was aggressive and bold (a "gunslinger"), and Baker goes for the throat whenever possible too, but Baker actually is a lot closer to Aaron Rodgers.

And Brett Favre was not as good as Rodgers (don't tell anybody I said that!  I'm in enough trouble as it is!)

But I digress:  You are welcome to snicker, snort, and roll your eyes at me, too, because I say OBJ is right.  Baker Mayfield won't become a great Quarterback, because he already is one.

OBJ, like Mayfield, just says what he thinks, and damn the torpedoes.

Ooo, pump the brakes!  Baah! Baah!

Don't get me wrong, as I have pointed out that all three other AFC North teams got better overall over this offseason, and will be formidable.

I still think they should take the Division, but post-draft, I can't "mail that in" anymore.

But then, Mayfield, OBJ, Landry etc don't think like that.  They think they will destroy anybody in front of them, period.

They don't remember the Browns' dismal history over the last couple decades--or care!

Throw these Steelers vs Browns or Ravens vs Browns records at them and they'll laugh at you (and so will I).

I'm not just a trained analyst, but also a Browns fan, resisting Stockholm Syndrome.  I can't even trust my own judgement as I "curb" the "enthisiasm".

I'm starting to think that the actual football players actually know what they're talking about.

Sure, Greedy Williams got over his skis predicting a 2019 Browns Superbowl, but he's planning to back it up, see?

Like Beckham, Landry, Mayfield, and Taylor, he expects to dominate, and can't help noticing the talent surrounding him.

I get why Freddie Kitchens wants to stifle this stuff:  He needs everybody to work hard to earn it.  Overconfidence is lethal.

But I'm not worried.  All these outspoken players are dedicated professionals.

I'm with Freddie in re OBJ/Landry's absence from this voluntary minicamp.

And was Baker Mayfield there?  I think Tony Grossi gets a little nuts sometimes.
