This time, I can't disagree much with that. Unlike some other dumbasses, Adam didn't include the Patriots, and for that matter, the Saints could have legitimately snuck in there too.
I personally think that Baker Mayfield is a tad better than Goff, but can't fuss over that. I could say "watch out Gurley!" in re Chubb and Hunt, but you really can't touch Gurley (yet).
I think the Browns have the deepest Wide Receivers and the best tight ends too.
I don't know enough about the respective Offensive Lines, but bet the starting Browns Defensive Linemen as a group might be the best of the bunch now that Suh is a Free Agent.
Don't know enough about the other secondaries, either, but I'd be surprised if the Browns don't have the best overall and deepest.
...yeah I guess I'm saying my homies are THE most talented team in the NFL, but could have a fun and freindly debate with Rams and Chargers' fans about it.
The Steelers fans I've run into don't seem very "feisty" to me, but that could be because I know more about their team than some of them do...
The Steelers do have a huge fan base, but it's kind of a "cult" thing, see? They won a bunch of Superbowls and picked up a generation of front-runners who raised their kids as Steelers fans and stuff.
The Ravens fans are a little more fun, but it's still frustrating when they argue with me about Lamar Jackson's accuracy and their Defense looking as good or better than the 2018 team.
The Bengals fans are just kinda cynical and bummed out. They really shouldn't be (that much) because the Bengals remain a very talented team, including several offensive playmakers.
This is why I keep writing this Blog. Every time I get into it with AFC North (including Browns) fans, it does turn out that I know more than they do, and they stifle themselves and want to change the subject quickly.
Nah they're usually smart people, but not obsessive like me. It bums me out; I'm a "buzz-kill" for all but the most fanatical fans.
Fantasy Football players are different, of course. We rely heavily on analytics and aren't irrational about our home-town players.
Fantasy players can yammer on all night, and I have to admit that playing weekly fantasy is the main reason why I know more about the other AFC North teams than their own fans do.
It's still gratifying to hear these guys talking about drafting Mayfield, Chubb, Njoku, and...
Well it gets complicated after that: OBJ will be overpriced for what he's likely to do. Mayfield spreads the ball around, and has a lot of other options. Callaway might be a good value, but not OBJ.
The best Browns value will be their Defense and Special Teams. They should be priced kind of in the middle.
Obviously, they made a bunch of significant upgrades, but they really sucked in 2018, and Wilks brings a new system with him. ...and they're the Browns.
I play on Draftkings, so the Defense and Special Teams are combined, and I'll lean hard on them in 2019.
New Special Teams Coach Mike Piefer would have been an upgrade over a competent Special Teams Coordinator, for one thing.
But the upgrades on these units this offseason might be more impactful than the defensive upgrades.
Skip the kicker. Rookie kickers crap out a lot, even when they're drafted. And Greg Joseph had a bad start, but wound up being pretty good, so who knows/skip it.
Sheehy-Guiseppi is here almost exclusively as a returner. There are a bunch more candidates among the new Defensive Backs as well.
The coverage units will be much better as well. Murray is the guy you knew about, but check out my last few posts: Dorsey brought in several extra-fast and agile CB and Safety prospects with great instincts (linebackers too).
Fantasy-wise, the 2019 Browns should have a top 7 Defense and Special Teams (top 10 conventional).
That's very conservative:
The Browns 2019 Offense is expected to score a lot of points. Those of you who thought that hiring Todd Monken as Offensive Coordinator meant a balls-to-the-wall Air Raid offense are
The Browns 2019 Offense will run the ball at least 40% of the time. It has to, to sell play-action, the "R" part of RPOs, etc., not to mention just plain running a balanced offense, and (duh) not wasting these blockers or Nick Chubb.
Mayfield will also throw short a lot (Infante: "Long handoffs"; 85% completions?)
The important part of this is that the 2019 Browns will be a balanced offense that stays on the field a respectable amount of time, and physically abuses and wears down defenses.
This matters. The Browns 2019 Defense won't be on the field as long or often as it was in 2018.
Nevermind: Let's say Baker, OBJ etc can't help averaging 6 plays and 2 minutes per TD-drive (a real possibility):
This will wear down the Browns' Defense?
With apologies to my regulars for insulting their intelligence, Offenses playing from behind have to pass more, and the farther behind they get, the more one-dimensional they become, and the more risks even the best Quarterbacks have to take.
The 2019 Browns Defense is custom-built to force turnovers and score points once opposing offenses get one-dimensional (and by the way in hurry-up situations too).
Fantasy-wise, by the way this also means the Browns will run the ball more to nail down wins.
Us Browns fans have seen opposing defenses "rally" to stuff our running backs each and every time, but I'm telling you now, that's over now.
Hue Jackson is gone! Opposing defenses can't predict exactly where Chubb (or whoever) is going anymore---
Ok ok I respect G-power man-blocking (with fullbacks sometimes) because it can break a defense's back and psychologically trash them, since they see it coming, and can't stop it anyway.
That works vs a fatigued defense with dominating Offensive Linemen and...well I just like zone-blocking better:
I mean, in a critical situation, do you want Chubb (or Hunt or Duke) not to have options all over the place?
...you people don't get much of this, do you? That's what I get for going "stream of consciousness" instead of carefully doing the "PR" stuff.
Seriously...does anyfuckingbody get ANY of this (I mean aside from the assholes who pretend they thought it up themselves...who YOU take more seriously than me...)
Idiocracy. Yep! Idiocracy!
YOU PEOPLE get previews of Pluto, Justik, Edwards, Gurzi etc articles here, then you read the same stuff 24-72 hours later...how do you manage to not to remember reading it here first?
As an Intelligent Analyst, I get this. I don't hate you for it. This is how people "think"; with their built-in biases. Human nature.
But YOU guys...well, I know you're smarter than average, and more logical, and reasonable and stuff...well I expected you guys to at least...
The hell with you guys. JFC you can't even let me have the Browns!?! (No I just mean reading my Blog, E...JFC MKC check. Pluto check. Your twin bro 🖕).
You will miss me slightly when I am gone maybe okbye
