Greedy Williams' Tackling, Dumbass PFF Comments by PR Hirelings, Corporate Incompetence

As always, not much any Coach says about his players is very informative or unique, but Freddie Kitchens did pique my interest in his press conference.

He predicts that CB Greedy Williams "will tackle".  He said stuff about Greedy's willingness and and effort being there (Freddie might be just saying that I don't know), but it's what he said next that caught my attention:

Freddie referred to peer pressure.  This was music to my ears.  Skipping the details, in my life I have been in charge of large groups of unruly men, and was (blush-blush) very effective (and hated by some of my peers and bosses because of it...buncha BS but I digress):

Anyway, the first thing I did was to consider myself as equal to them, sorta:  That is, to listen to them and treat them like actual people.

You can't be insecure and pull this off, folks.  You can't fake it.

Next, I determined who the leaders were, and used it.  You see, I was the BOSS, so there was a natural wall between them and me.  I needed the natural leaders to help me out.

Freddie Kitchens expects the leading players to make sure that Greedy Williams will be a good tackler, and he actually used that press conference to deliver that message to them (and to Williams himself).

Well done!!!  YOU people might doubt Freddie Kitchens as a Head Coach, but I do not.

As for Greedy's tackling, you'd better believe he will work hard on that, because his team mates WILL challenge/ride him on it.  If you can't see why, after having read what I just wrote, you are an idiot.

Part of Greedy's problem is the "beanpole" factor.  He needs to get bigger and stronger.  It's not a huge problem, as he's 6'2", and even if his metabolism resists piling up muscles, he WILL get stronger.

The PFF guys on NFL Radio wondered about Greedy's "system fit" with Steve Wilks' zone-heavy defense, so my regular readers see how dumb even they can be:

"Shut down" cornerbacks are rare, but every Defensive Coordinator wants them.  Steve Wilks hasn't had them, so he's made the most of the cornerbacks he has had.

If Wilks HAS three "shut-down" man cornerbacks, he will, of course, adapt his defense to exploit them.

Man coverage outside will greatly enhance what Wilks can do with his linebackers, safeties, and nickel backs inside.

This is not me being a genius.  It's just me pointing out what is obvious to EVERY coach in the NFL...

NO SANE DC IN THE NFL WANTS TO RUN ZONE COVERAGE OUTSIDE, AND STEVE WILKS CAN STILL SPELL HIS NAME RIGHT LAST TIME I CHECKED.

Not that the PFF spokesmen are idiots.  It's just that they're not real "geeks". They're "media" or "PR" guys who are better at bullshit than they are at analysis...so they say really dumbass stuff sometimes.

Why TF am I not writing for PFF?

Ah crap just kill me.
