Cleveland Browns Fill Coaching Vacancies with Winners.

Pat Monken!?!  PERFECT!

Wilks was a good hire, but Monken is really special.

Both these coordinators were Head Coaches (Monken in college), and can support the virginal Head Coach Freddie Kitchens.

I bet the infamous Paul DePodesta influenced these hires, because they seem unusually RATIONAL.

Corrections:

1: Wilks ran a 4-3, but with all due respect to Pluto et al, that's irrelevant.

2: Monken juggled Fitzpatrick and Wilson as well as could be expected--and produced a prolific offense.

3: Baker Mayfield does NOT need a "mentor". Freddie would tell anybody smart enough to ask him: Mayfield, like Mahomes, needs none of that.

Mahomes is mechanically flawed.  What a joke! Mayfield is mechanically perfect (almost.  He throws off-platform like Mahomes does sometimes...haha stop it yer killin me)

Monken probably has some advice for Baker Mayfield, but the notion that the new offensive coordinator has to nurse an embyonic and clueless quarterback along is idiotic.

No: Monken will run the meetings, help build the game-plans, help draw up the plays etc., but Freddie will call the plays on game-day, and niether of these two coaches will monkey around with Baker Mayfield much.

Baker Mayfield has a didactic memory, and is obsessive.  He will progress automatically, without interference.

Monken and Kitchens are a good match.  Monkens is adaptable, innovative, and efficient.  He will almost certainly come up with stuff that Freddie overlooked...

This is a GREAT hire!  Monkens is the real deal, and a perfect fit.

I'm not as sure about Wilks, but by the time Dorsey has his pick of free agents and drafts some more guys, Wilks will have more talent to play with than he's ever had.

By the numbers, the Browns D under Gregg Williams has been pretty bad.

The turnovers don't offset the rankings.  In his one season as the Panthers' Defensive Coordinator, he did more with less (overall talent).

I'll take it.

Plus, parts of the Tampa 2 fit here, and I strongly expect Wilks to mix outside man with inside zone...nevermind I'll blabber about that later.

But just in general, all three of these newly hired coordinators are at least above average.

I know: I was rooting for Jim Bob Cooter (or Billy Joe McCallister) due to the name, but we need to be pragmatic here.

Besides, Jim Bob was supposed to help "develop" Baker Mayfield.  Maybe Andy Reid can use him in KC to nurture Pat Mahomes instead.

You people crack me up.  Clueless pundits say the funniest things!
