The Browns Should beat the Panthers. Honest! Here's Why

I really like Myles Garrett a lot.  When I saw this article; "Myles Garrett on Cam Newton's arm--", I avoided clicking on it until I'd checked out everything else.

You know why, right?  He's going to say "last week was a fluke.  He's one of the best ever to have played.  He looks fine to me.  Wehaveourworkcutoutforusblahblah"

But no!!! Garrett talked straight!  He thinks Cam has been "pressing" on longer passes, and it looks like his shoulder is giving him trouble!!!

Wow!  Good thing Hue Jackson is gone!  I mean, you can't say that stuff!  No doubt, Cam Newton is profoundly offended and outraged and stuff and is going to punish the Browns for these insults!

Gregg Williams will probably let Garrett get away with this.

Silliness aside, Myles is a breath of fresh air:

Comparing DeShaun Watson to Cam Newton, Myles basicly said that he had to get the slippery eel (Watson) down, but he "can't miss" Cam Newton, and he doesn't have to get him on the ground if he can strip the ball off him.

"Bulletin Board material"?

Actually, it kinda is, except in reverse:

Just the facts, man: Cam will NOT be offended by anything Myles Garrett said about him, but he WILL be paranoid about getting stripped.

And Myles Garrett knows it.

Anyway, I predict that Cam Newton will "revert" this sunday, and run the ball more.

Everything Garrett said hit home: Cam is fast, but not quick, like a Rodgers or Brees or Watson or Wilson or (ahem) Mayfield.  And HE has to expose the ball to throw a lot more than the little guys do, because he's 6'5" tall, can't stop his 245 lbs on a dime, and can't whip his long arm around like the little guys can, especially if his rotator cuff is making him "wind up" more than usual.

That's not neccessarily good news (ie that Cam will probably run if his first couple reads aren't there), because he can still do massive damage with his legs.

Still, if Newton runs more, and McCaffery and Moore get the ball less, that's a good thing.

Myles Garrett's just telling the truth about what he's seen on tape, and how he plans to attack Newton, only confirms what Cam saw coming in the first place.

This is "tin foil hat" stuff for the majority of you, but like I said: I think Cam Newton this sunday will "revert", and that Gregg Williams (and Joe Schobert) will expect it.

The Panthers will of course lean heavily on McCaffery with quick passes and stuff, and try quick passes in general, to protect Cam from Garrett and company.

But Gregg Williams can prevent deep passes.  He can rush four, or even three guys, and run "shell" coverage.  He can converge on McCaffery, Moore, and Cam himself.

This Browns' defense can "trade punches" with a lamed Cam Newton and this offense, and give as good as it gets.

On the other side of the ball, Baker Mayfield has a total package offense, including deep threats, and a REAL stud running back...

(Ok McCafferee is awesome but he's a little shrimp, and not a "stud" who can blast through guys and stuff okay?  The Panthers don't have that guy, either, see?)

They have Moore yes, but Mayfield has Callaway.  Mayfield is more ACCURATE than Cam (especially now), but Mayfield also has Higgins and Njoku.

Callaway only recently got his feet under him.  Vs the Texans, he caught two long bombs in a row.  One was negated by a penalty.  The other ended in a fumble/turnover.

Mayfield ran right to him after the fumble to reassure him.  "Live and learn man!  I got you!  I know you'll be there! Just hold onto it next time!" *I'm guessing about the words, but am certain I'm very close to exact quotes*.

Antonio Callaway (see earlier posts) was not my favorite player early on, but has come on strong recently--like Corey Coleman never did.

Baker Mayfield trusts him, and he's stopped blowing routes and dropping passes...

This is all Mayfield, you guys: I mean including the decline in drops.

It's hard to explain:

The whole team watches films from previous games.  All the receivers see that 9 out of 10 Mayfield passes were on the money, and that the receivers screwed up often and frequently.

They wonder "what if", and resolve to be like Baker.

Not to let Baker down.  Not to be the guy that lets somebody sack him...

Whatever:  the Browns should whup the Panthers at home.  The 2018 Browns are more talented OVERALL than the 2018 Panthers, and Cam is dinged-up.

The Titans are trying to pull out of an unexpected tailspin.

The Browns will not cooperate.

I HAVE SPOKEN
