Ok so Baker Mayfield called Hue Jackson "fake", and is "standing by" it: WHO CARES?
Jeez what is this "Big Time Wrestling?" Half the freaking show is guys hollering into microphones?
I like that Baker isn't PC (or fake), but it looks like the media is going to turn every answer to every leading question into...well..."Fake-Gate".
Look, if you're not a real football fan and just love fake reality shows and Jerry Springer, that's your thing. Obviously, there's a huge market for this kind of trumped-up melodrama.
I just think none of you should be allowed to serve on juries or vote.
But I digress:
Here is an excellent article attacking the almost mindless ass umption that no matter how the Browns finish 2018 under Gregg Williams, he isn't a valid candidate to be the Browns Head Coach in 2019.
Elliott Kemmel points out that if Williams wins a majority of his remaining games, he will be a Head Coach somewhere next season.
Shades of Mitchell Schwartze--or Bill Belichick!
Well I've already said all this stuff: You just don't fire a Head Coach who has reversed a historical losing team...especially so you can...
This Mayfield "mentoring" crap is utter garbage! Are you out of your damn minds?
Look at what he's done under Rodney Chopped Liver Kitchenfield! On what fkng planet do you regard this quarterback as a project in the first place?
Ohmmm....ohmmm...
On NFL Radio I heard a Texans fan call in to "thank the Cleveland Browns" for trading down and letting the Texans draft DeShaun Watson -smirk-smirk-.
This guy goes on to say that anybody who says they'd prefer Baker Mayfield over Watson is "lying" -smirk-smirk-.
Once they got rid of this homer, the ex-player half of the show team said "I guess I'm a liar because I think Mayfield is better".
He mentioned a quicker release, better accuracy, leadership, and other irrelevant stuff like that (but what does he know?)
Mary Kay Cabbott delves into the 2017 draft (Sashi Brown). The Browns drafted Myles Garrett first, and turned their second first round pick into Jabrill Peppers and Denzel Ward (instead of DeShaun Watson).
Mary says Gregg Williams was consulted (by the apparently unmentionable Sashi Brown) about Watson heading into that draft.
Gregg liked Watson, but not that much.
As Gregg says, "the best" teams consult defensive coaches about offensive prospects and vice-versa...DUH.
Clearly, Sashi Brown DID listen to his "football people", and the Browns ended up with Jabrill Peppers and Denzel Ward instead of Watson.
Then Baker Mayfield. Looks like it worked out fine for both teams.
Bruce Gradkowski (NFL Radio) and Bruce Murray both picked the Browns to upset the Texans in Houston.
For ex-quarterback Gradkowski, it's more psychological than anything else: The Browns have functioned at an elite level under the new coaching team.
Isolating the last three games (yes, including the loss to KC), the individual players have played well above their season averages; these grades are diluted by the Jackson/Haley grades, and season-long stats don't account for this.
Baker Mayfield is more decisive than Deshaun Watson; it will be harder for Watt, Clowney, Mercillus and company to get at him in time, and the Browns two-tight end and two-back sets are frequent.
While the Browns offensive tackles remain vulnerable, the Browns center and guards are better than most other triads in the NFL.
The Browns will probably run directly at these monster disruptors in-turn with an extra blocker...
But Gradkowski just thinks that the Browns have more to play for, and that these Coaches and this quarterback are no mirage.
I hope he's right.
