Harrison himself now says that he "got an envelope" from Tomlin after doing his best to kill or maim Browns WR Mohammud Massequoi, and we all know what was in it.
After all those cheap shots (mainly helmet-to-helmets), Mike Tomlin always defended his players, essentially saying that that's just football.
Harrison himself says that this was how he was taught to play football.
That is probably a lie, but if it isn't, his old coach should be in prison next to Vontez Burfict.
I remember after the Massequoi decapitation, Jim Miller on NFL Radio saying that it was Massequoi's and McCoy's fault, because the WR is supposed to "sit down" vs zone coverage--and there is something wrong with Jim Miller, too.
Yes, Massequoi was heading right at Smith when he caught the ball and yes that was dumb, but no, he didn't deserve to be killed or paralyzed for it wtf is the matter with you, Jim!?!
Harrison is 250 lbs and could have de-cleated Massequoi with one hand. He didn't need to get anywhere near his helmet.
What Myles Garrett did last season was inexcusable, but it was temporary insanity. The stuff these Harrisons, Burficts, and Suhs do (or did) routinely were just as dangerous, and were deliberate.
Remember this when the zebras are throwing flags on Garrett for dirty looks and hostile body language this season.
Grant Puskar must read this Blog, as he asks us to let up on OBJ. You've heard all of this here before, but wtf if you don't listen to me listen to Grant:
He's a team player. He gets irked by losing, and not because he doesn't get the ball enough. He's craved attention too much in the past, and is wayyyy overboard on his phoenetic twitter slang, but he's not like Antonio Brown whatsoever.
You can't find a current or former OBJ teammate who has anything bad to say about him (except that he was a distraction), and his playing through a whole season with those injuries in 2019--absolutely selfless and admirable.
He will probably get injured yet again, and probably won't have a carreer year, but he will make some big plays earn his salary in 2020.
Disclaimer:
I suspect that OBJ did yell "come get me" at at least one opposing sideline (and probably more). Players don't just make stuff like that up.
I think this was about Freddie Kitchens and not Baker Mayfield (or the fans or city).
3 ESPN analysts agree that the 2020 Browns aren't a Playoff Team.
I can respect that, given the newness of the systems and players, and of course the Baltimore Ravens, but I found a bunch of dumbassitude in here:
1: At least one of these guys is treating the 2020 Steelers as roughly as good as the Ravens (hence better than the Browns).
Not. Even. Close.
2: A couple more are going with the best Coaches. They really mean the proven guys (Tomlin and Harbaugh).
That's always a good bet, but you shouldn't ignore the rosters, talent lost/gained, or recent histories.
The Browns split with all 3 Division Rivals in 2019 with bad coaches.
The Big Ben factor is predictably overinflated, but his QBRs in his most recent games were under 70 (losses) and he's 39 years old.
He's coming off a severe injury to his throwing arm and is an old 39, because he's taken a worse beating than Cam Newton (for much longer).
No sweat it's Big Ben he'll be fine! Look at Tom Brady! He's even older, so we have conclusive evidence that all Quarterbacks can play into their 40's!
This was an off-the-cuff discussion of the Browns' 2020 playoff prospects, so it was pretty superficial, but there will now be one more playoff team in each conference, right?
Well, the only real dominating teams in the AFC are the Chiefs and Ravens. Even these guys would generally agree that the 2020 Browns rank with the Texans, Titans, Raiders, Colts, Bills (at least).
If you are a PC Sheep, this one is not for you, as Baker Mayfield has invited his receivers to Texas to work out with him.
There could be seven or more of them, and I bet they don't wear surgical masks or stay 6' apart, or wash their hands after each and every rep.
I actually saw one headline knocking Mayfield for "sending a bad message" or "setting a poor example" or "baah! Baaahh!" or something.
Obviously they'll get tested for
Ohmmm....ohmmmm....
Anyway this is a great move by Baker, as even when mass-hysteria isn't wrecking the economy and ruining lives in order to put the Swamp-creatures in charge for good, the NFLPA has pretty much made it impossible for teams to get their players any meaningful practice reps.
Quarterbacks need to organize unofficial "camps" like this.
OBJ and Landry are both rehabbing from operations so they're out, but that works too.
Landry is already "there" with Mayfield. OBJ needs some reps, but (I repeat yet again) his issues in 2019 were more about his injuries (and playing hurt) than they were about chemistry.
I'm hoping that 2020 draft picks Harrison Bryant and Donovan Peoples-Jones were among the "and other team mates" participants, as they obviously need it most.
(If I were Mayfield I'd cover their expenses with a small fraction of my insurance commercial money--and of course write it off).
Rashard Higgins will be there. He doesn't really need the reps that much, but he's fighting for his future, and he's got to go the extra mile.
Higgins is in the thick of a race for third WR. 'Teams ace Hodge, Rodney Ratleyfield, and Peoples-Jones are competing with him, and Ratley is at Camp Mayfield too.
I wish we could watch Camp Mayfield like "Hard Knocks", ya know?
Obviously, Baker is running it...but what about Case Keenum? If I were Mayfield, I would invite Keenum, because he's a legit expert on Stefanski and his offense, and could kinda be a surrogate Coach.
It would be better if some of the DBs went down there to keep them honest, right?
This will be great for Mayfield himself, as he will have to be like Tom Brady and jump on guys for sloppy routes and stuff.
"It went where it was supposed to go. Where were you?" He can't let the coaches do it, see? He is the Coach! He could become a stronger leader out of this.
Bill Callahan genuinely seems to feel good about the Browns having a good Right Guard in 2020 without paying top dollar for a Free Agent.
Callahan lists four contenders for the position on the current roster.
He also seems to agree with me that Jedrick Wills will somehow manage the nearly impossible transition from Right to Left Tackle in only like 5 months or so, as inconceivable as that sounds (but what does he know?)
Seriously, just shut up about this, ok? He might miss the Pro Bowl as a rookie because he's switching sides, but that's about as bad as it gets good grief now we need Gramps Peterson for insurance?
The Browns hired Kwesi Adofo Mensah from the Niners as Andrew Berry's Lieutenant.
Kwesi has been with the 49ers for two years, and before that was an options-trader.
Wow. This is getting right close to home for me. I'll try to explain why this makes sense eventually, if I can find a way not to bore yzzzzzzzzz
