First, while the Titans would have won this game anyway, the referees ruined it for the Browns.
Everybody knows that the refs can call holding on every play. They don't, because that would ruin the game. In this game, several of the holding calls I saw on replay weren't even legitimate.
...man...you're making up holding calls to screw the Browns now?
Nevermind: Baker Mayfield threw 3 picks and the Titans outplayed the Browns and earned their win the old fashioned way.
The Browns were undisciplined, and possibly as many as half the penalties the obviously biased zebras called were legitimate.
I need to head a lynch-mob off here; we've got all the negative stuff covered, right? The Permabashers swarming out of their hiding places in full throat with the ropes, torches, pitchforks, etc?
So I have to stop the lynching. And if you use the word "excuses", I am saddened that I can't be there to punch you in your willfully ignorant face.
1: Greg Robinson got himself kicked out of the game early. He was the starting Left Tackle. It mattered, you people!!! Robinson was only mediocre, but Kendall Lamm is worse IT MATTERS. IT MADE A DIFFERENCE DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?!
Then Lamm got hurt, and continued playing.
2: The Titans Offense is better than advertised. And this team was 9-7 last season despite a slew of critical injuries.
This was a veteran playoff team with an elite defense in 2018.
3: The Titans superglued and Duck taped Offensive Line stifled Murderers Row. Just the facts, man. Mariota had time, more often than not, and Titans running backs broke tackles.
Once plan A (tackled in the backfield) failed, it was off to the races, and a bunch of Browns getting outrun.
BUT, you people, Derrick Henry is a freak. The Browns won't face him again in 2019 (thank God).
4: NFL teams have gotten rediculous about not playing their starters in preseason. As we saw thursday night and today, people are screwing up a lot. Methinks these Coaches have overdone this "protect your starters" stuff.
5: If you think Baker Mayfield will even blink after this horrific performance, you need a brain transplant.
I couldn't see his first interception, but of the 2 I saw:
One was inaccurate; by maybe SIX INCHES at over 18 yards downfield.
The other went exactly where his intended target was, before he broke outside. In that case, I think it was his fault, and not the receivers'. But even the experts on NFL Radio can't figure that out sometimes.
It doesn't matter. It's miscommunication between elite players. It will happen less often, week by week (duh).
The Titans dominated the Browns in Cleveland. The Browns screwed up a lot, but none more than Baker Mayfield.
If you expect that Baker Mayfield will...I dunno regress or something...
Screw it Baker Mayfield is the real deal and getting scarier game by game.
Colon Cowturd and his ilk are jumping up and down, pointing fingers:
3 interceptions in the first real game. See? I was right! Yeah--like Dan Marino proved he was a loser when he threw 5 interceptions in one game. Can you believe Miami drafted him?
Anyway I just got some new info, and need to revise my 2019 w/l prediction:
15-1.
