Larry Ogunjobi has finally spoken up, as Randy Gurzi tells us.
As Randy also points out, he hasn't said anything that Mayfield, Beckham, or Landry haven't said about the team's screwups to date.
Pluto wrote a thoughtful article about this mess too. Since much of it echoed stuff I have written here, I can tell you that it was insightful and intelligent (blush-blush).
But the main reason I still check out Terry's articles now is to read his readers' comments.
Mary Kay gets a lot of masogonists personally insulting her and stuff, but Terry generates some real debate (although he is called a "tool" and stuff too).
It's getting ugly.
Please quit saying screw the Browns, Dorsey sucks, Kitchens is an idiot, Mayfield is a backup, and generally spazzing out (or spiking the football if you're a permabasher).
Terry's smartest commenter said something like "you guys are spazzes. Simplify the offense, focus on setting the edge--" (I forget his other two common sense points but you read them here often and repeatedly.)
Circling back to Ogunjobi's comments: He called out the players. Not the Coach(es).
I can't argue with those who call Freddie Kitchens "in over his head" so far, but his players (especially Mayfield) seem to be rallying around him.
They're all saying all the bonehead screwups are on the players--not the Coach.
I know I know, you blame the coach(es) for lack of discipline, and for sure Freddie looks like shit here, but believe it or not, the Grim Reaper has not arrived yet.
I keep telling you people that Freddie Kitchens is still Freddie Kitchens. Mayfield and his offense will still work, if the Head Coach insists on running it consistently again.
I (sigh) repeat: Short drops, slants and crosses, quick releases, 2 (or 3) running backs or tight ends sometimes for cave man stuff or max protect...
It's not rocket science, and opposing defensive coordinators can see it coming and be unable to stop it anyway.
I have to agree with some critics (since I agree with my own opinions before the trade) that the Browns needed OBJ like a hole in the head, but I, like YOU, expected Corbett to step up at at RG (yes you did).
That was the only change on a highly-graded offensive line--did you see this shitstorm coming? (Subtle hint: NO. YOU DID NOT. ADMIT IT).
And post-trade, I expected OBJ to kick ass.
So did you. Yes you did. Did too.
I'll get back with you on monday morning. For now, my W/L prediction is 11-5.
