For one thing, Baker knows that Dorsey can take a joke, and that's good. For another thing, rather than stewing about his backup status, Baker is working to improve, while at the same time being positive and having fun.
And he's pretty funny! This is probably why everybody at Oklahoma couldn't look at this guy without smiling.
The Browns coaches keep dropping first-team players down to torture this poor kid and his second-team offense, and that's good. Mitchell picked him off today on a pass attempt to...err...
Mayfield has been turning lemons into lemonade with receivers we've never heard of (see last post), and that's more impressive than you think.
The "second team" corners and safeties include Boddy-Calhoun, Kindred, Carey, Gaines, and Rice. The linebackers include Avery, Kendricks, and Burgess.
Baker Mayfield doesn't need to play in real games. He's got his crucible built into the units he practices against. And he GETS it!
I've actually listened to what Mayfield himself has said about when he starts, and his history. He's good with where he's at right now. Right now, he has to quit throwing interceptions to the guys he's practicing against, and he's good with working on that.
The guy is remarkably mature and pragmatic for a quarterback. He knows as well as the coaches do that if he were to play in real games vs starting back ends, he'd be making the mistakes he is now in practice.
He's cool with working the bugs out before he plays for real.
Damarius Randall proclaimed the Browns starting defense "dominating" after they dominated their Bills counterparts, but we'll see how that works vs the Eagles in the "dress rehearsal".
The Superbowl champs managed to hold onto most of their talent, and well...they're not the Bills.
Don't get me wrong here---I expect the Browns D to be at least a match for the Eagles O, but not to "dominate" it.
This game (mainly the first half) will really tell us where the Browns are at...sorta...(no Gordon, right?)
The defense should look good, since Myles Garrett is one eleventh of it (he's the defensive Josh Gordon).
But Denzel Ward is also a very special player with similar "star power" ("undersized" at 5'11" B.S.).
Jamie Collins SHOULD be another one of those guys, but so far so-so in 2018.
Schobert, Ogunjobi, and Randall have EARNED praise, but are still being underrated...along with Kendricks and Avery ok don't get me started (too late) and Terrence Mitchell, who has actually been THE best cornerback on this team so far this year.
(What the hell) Ogbah is underrated too. Garrett hasn't been double-teamed much yet, but they'll have to do it when the games count.
What the hell here come the Iggles let's see what happens.
- I bet the Browns "win" the first half.
