You People Need to Grow Up and Think With Your Brains. And Grow a Pair. And Tell the Truth or Shut Up

Pete Smith should stick to football, because Vic Fangio is right: There's not a race issue in the NFL.

This Politically-correct white guilt is just out of hand.

Fangio went on to say "the NFL is a meritocracy".

"Aha!", says Pete:  that means Fangio thinks only (he names 4 black Head Coaches) are the only bros who were qualified to be Head Coaches.

Why didn't Pete mention Art Shell, Hue Jackson, Dennis Green, Marvin Lewis or bunch of other guys? Or Ozzie Newsome as GM?

People count 3 black Head Coaches this year and here we fkng go again let's pretend it's the 60s!

Which Bro would have been a better choice than Stefanski?  Based on merit, or color?

That's what all you guilty white people are talking about: YOU want owners to judge these guys on the color of their skins.

You don't even understand what a meritocracy is.  Ok there are 3 black Head Coaches this season.  Well, Hue Jackson and Marvin Lewis got fired, and their replacements happened to be white big fkng deal!

It's a cooincidence.  Which team owners have white robes and pointy hats in their closets, Pete?  Robert Kraft, maybe?  He never hired a black Head Coach!  It's about time, don't you think?

While we're at it, Marvin Lewis never won a Superbowl!  That's not fair, man!  We gotta fix that!

And look at all those black Head Coaches that got fired!  Why couldn't Hue Jackson get a fair chance? Just another year or two!

What about our Asian freinds?  What?  That's a stereotype man!  You're profiling! Asians don't play football really?  See how pervasive bigotry is when we judge people like that?  I'm so ashamed!

Well anyway the Rooney Rule has clearly failed so we need to institute quotas.  Now, how many black Head Coaches should there be? Do we want to hire extra ones to make up for the ones the racist owners refused to hire in the past?

Consti--what you're gonna politicize it now?  Well yeah and it was constipational to own slaves--technicalities--well I don't have it right in front of m--more of this political crap which one is that?  Big deal they never got their 40 acres and a---

Fangio was right.  At least 2 black coordinators will get Head Coach gigs in 2021 (and we hope Joe Woods won't be the third).

By the way is Ozzie Newsome racist?  HE never hired a black Head Coach!

Not sayin just sayin...Pete:  Sometimes you a silly man.

I didn't link Peter's Guilty White PC article because it's mostly pap, but his comments on Peter King ranking the 2020 Browns 24th are worth reading.

Pete gets into the Ravens and Steelers (with intact systems/coaches/rosters) in the same Division, but that's predicting wins and losses, not guaging the strength of a team (not an excuse for King).

Lord Insideous is a genius, but in addition to a Quarterback named Joe, the rest of the Patriots roster is riddled with holes.

King has Tom Brady Syndrome as he ranks the Bucs #5, and Grudenitis, as the Raiders are 8th.  With Derrick Carr.

The Broncos, at 20, are 4 slots ahead of the Browns.  Da Bearss are 9th and the Bills 13th.

Gurzi, Smith and I wonder how, after acquiring (deep breath) Sendejo Joseph Billings Conklin Hooper Wills Janovich Eliott Delpit Phillips Bryant etc this off season, Njoku's parole from Dorsey State Prison, Garrett comjng back, and the returns to health of the post-surgeried Landry and OBJ -gasp-...the 2020 Browns could be worse than the 2019 Browns.

Obviously, Peter King is not a Baker Mayfield fan.  This is the only way that King could pull these mental contortions off: "Yabutt Mayfield is still their Quarterback".

Pete Smith is right that the '20 Browns are disadvataged more than other teams by the Covid 19 bullshit artificial crisis as they're installing new systems and just added a bunch of new players.  They're libel to screw up and stumble around early in the season...but that's not enough to rank possibly THE most talented team in the NFL 24TH.

I guess Peter King has always agreed with Colin Cowherd about Baker Mayfield:

Too short (no I'm serious!  Nothing he did in 2018 changed that height thing no shit!!!)

I can't even track the rest of it.  Johnny Manziel comparisons, and...just stuff Colin makes up, like Baker has always taken off prematurely...

I'm sorry but I can't waste time on Cowherd's "analysis" because I've heard from Weiss Brandt Kirwan Werner Miller Brady PFF and Cowherd denies that any of what they say is true of Baker Mayfield.

And obviously Peter King agrees with Colin and not everybody else.

Well, no biggee.  Baker Mayfield isn't running his mouth this season.  He remembers how to answer his critics.  We should thank King and Cowherd, really.

Alex Van Pelt says that Mayfield is sitting in on the virtual meetings of some of the other position groups (and I think mostlly just listening).

That's great to hear.

You know that Tom Brady and Peyton Manning always knew what each and every player were supposed to be doing on every single play?

No need to overstate this: After all, what else has he got to do--watch TV?  Still, it's a good sign that Baker is focused.

Van Pelt's comments about Baker's footwork answered a lot of questions for me.

Van Pelt actually has 3 different footwork "systems" he (like) choreographs, and he says he's having Mayfield do the "West Coast" version (while repeating what Brady Quinn said: there's nothing wrong with Baker's natural footwork).

I totally get this now: Van Pelt is having him shorten his initial steps and keep his feet under his shoulders so that he can deliver instantly at any moment.

This is about timing, of course, but also about deception.  A QB can deceive a safety with his head and shoulders, but not with his feet.  Mayfield "signals" his passes as he takes a final hop tp plant his feet just right.

The coverage guys see it, but so do the passrushers (notably those who need to know exactly when to jump up to deflect the pass).

Alex was talking about Pistol and Shotgun snaps here, right?  He's already in position to throw (if it's not a bootleg), so all Van Pelt is talking about is keeping his left foot forward at all times; and pointed at his target.  You "dance" left or right or back or forward, but on both feet, and maintaining that "firing position" platform, see?

That's "West Coast".  No doubt Alex has another system he'll have Mayfield use on bootlegs, and a classic deep passing system too (that one probably involves taking actual steps to reposition and step forward under edge-pressure and stuff nevermind).

If Mayfield wasn't a "midget", the West Coast footwork might take time to get used to, but because he's a lilipution like Rodgers Brees Wilson Werner Montana Young etc it's not a problem.

Indeed, Mayfield was 80% "there" at Oklahoma; he's got great natural footwork, and Van Pelt's "tweaks" won't mess him up even slightly (like it would if he was 6'4" tee-hee).

After reading what Joel Bitonio said about the offense (notably that each run play has a pass play which looks identical to it),  I can speculate a little more on the 2020 Mayfield/Stefanski version of "Check with Me":

Ok for Bernie Kosar, he had 3 plays he could opt to.  This is much different:

I believe that Baker Mayfield will have two RPO options, or 4 plays overall.

Based on what he sees as the defense sets, he shifts a Hunt wide or motions a Njoku across or something to get the alignment he needs for RPO1 or RPO2, and then reacts to the defense to hand it off or pass.

It's actually pretty simple compared to what Kosar did (long story), and given Swiss Army Hunt, the versatile Tight Ends, and Chubb's underrated ability as a receiver, Mayfield could have 3/6 Check with Me options after a few games.

Colin Cowherd isn't impressed by Baker Mayfield's football intelligence, but I can add Bernie Kosar himself to the very long list of those who disagree:

I never heard BK go into much detail, but (in college) Bernie loved his judgement, decision-making, and ability to read defenses (along with his accuracy, touch, improvisation, athleticism, arm---but I digress):

Again:  No offense, Cowherd fans, but take the odds on Baker Mayfield, because only an idiot would bet against him (sorry if I offended anybody that just slipped out).

...Honest this isn't because Mayfield is white, ok?  Lamar Jackson is awesome and so is Wilson! And Warren Moon and Cam Newton and Watson, so as you can see some of my best Quarterbacks are black African American and there should be more of them right Pete?  We need to prosecute that obviously racist coach who wanted to make Lamar a Wide Receiver right Pete?

Anyway I'm sorry Baker is white...and that I am.  And for oppressing ah shit just...shoot me OFCOM
